Released:
Label: Parlophone Records Limited
Parklive captures the Britpop gods' (allegedly) final show, at London's Hyde Park at the closing of the 2012 Olympics. The opening is heavy on Parklife, but from there the band effortlessly shifts from the oud-picking "Out of Time" to the woozy "Trimm Trabb" and "Caramel" to the bouncy, brassy "Country House" to the punk-ish woo-hoo!'s of "Song 2." The mood turns softer with "Tender," "Sing" and "Under the Westway," before closing with a triumphant sing-along to "The Universal." An exquisite set that highlights the band's restless experimentation while still managing to sound singularly Blur.
