BoA is a Korean pop star who has already conquered Japan, so taking on the American market is a natural next step. And that's just what she's done, to a perfectly AutoTuned tee. Her debut English album is sexy and danceable, even exciting in spots (the adorable "Did Ya"). But so many interesting ideas get watered down by hyper-familiar production conceits. At times it feels like songs we've heard before (from Ciara maybe?) or that big-name producers like Sean Garrett just phoned it in. BoA shouldn't be held to different standards, but it would be nice if somebody broke the mold.
