Nashville may be Country Music City, but two of country music's greatest artists of the rock era were Los Angeles-based Glen Campbell and Bobbie Gentry. By 1968, Campbell was an established star with his own TV show and Gentry was a bright newcomer, whose songwriting was as strong as her musicality. Both performers had definite crossover appeal (even with black audiences), but this album is squarely aimed at their country fan base. It's hard to go wrong with the two harmonizing on "Gentle on My Mind" and "Sunday Mornin'," but Gentry's original "Mornin' Glory" is the set's highlight.
