Though it's nice that Darin (a gifted mimic and impressionist) doesn't copy Ray Charles' singing style, his laidback vocal approach here doesn't exactly jibe with the pounding, unrelenting hard-drive of his ace backing band. That said, Bobby nails the ballads (like "Drown in My Own Tears"), which is odd since he's usually better on rhythm tunes than torch songs.
