You're The Reason I'm Living
Bobby Darin
Released:
Dec 1999
Label:
Capitol Records
This two-for-one CD showcases two sides of Bobby Darin's multifaceted musical personality. Darin was not just a great student of Frank Sinatra and Elvis Presley; he knew his Ray Charles, too. On You're the Reason, Darin puts a Charles-like jazz 'n' soul spin on country music (interestingly, Gerald Wilson, a modernist jazz arranger, wrote many of the charts for this and other L.A.-based country albums). On Venice Blue, Darin keeps the country rhythm section as he works through a set of then-current supper-club standards.
