Bobby Patterson is the Renaissance Man of blues-soaked Soul. He's a fiery singer who knows how to propel a rock-influenced R&B band (think Sly Stone) or lay out a devastating ballad (think Bobby "Blue" Bland). He's also a producer, label owner, and respected songwriter who's had everyone from Albert King to the Fabulous Thunderbirds to Alt Country supergroup Golden Smog record his songs. Although Patterson is well-known in blues circles, his music will appeal to fans of classic Soul and R&B; listen to his compilation albums or I'd Rather Eat Soup (1998), lay back, and feel the emotion. His music is as much an inspiration for real-life bands as Wilson Pickett was for the fictional Commitments.
