Drummer Bobby Previte reactivates his old band and proves that adventurous jazz can hook mainstream audiences by keeping the percussion rooted as the soloists take flight. Previte's always been a solid tunesmith, and the titles of such atmospheric numbers as "She Has Information" and "There Was Something in My Drink" should clue you in on the theme of this album, buzzing with half-remembered soundtracks from old spy and crime flicks. Bill Ware is on vibes, Steven Bernstein is on trumpet and Ellery Eskelin plays the tenor sax.
