Bobby Swings Tenderly
Bobby Troup
Released:
Jan 1957
Label:
Vsop Records
Bobby Troup was a top jazz songwriter with such tunes as "Route 66," "The Meaning of the Blues" and "Baby, Baby All the Time" to his credit. Troup often performed in a Nat Cole trio-style setting, but here he leads a group of West Coast jazz cats (Mel Lewis, Ted Nash, etc.) on a set of instrumental standards. Troup isn't much of a soloist, but he doesn't embarrass himself.
