Bomba Estereo is not kidding with this album title. Blow Up is precisely what this explosively hip Colombian cumbia-dub-hip-pop outfit is destined to do. This debut of sorts (preceded by a digital release) is a globe-trotting mix of scenes and sounds, both electro and live, that swelters with a youthful heat, like kids taking over the streets for a dance party. The heady brew is held together by the common ground of African diasporic rhythms, particularly Afro-Colombian, and by Li Saumet's flat, gripping vocals, which seem to beckon you to join in -- if you're cool enough.
