Bonobo's 2010 album Black Sands was a sonic goldmine, fashioning its hybrid of downbeat, soul and left-field dance music out of the richest materials around. That luster shines through in this collection of remixes. Tempos remain languid across many of them, from Banks' brooding trip-hop to Mark Pritchard's dreamy fantasia for twangy guitar and Dr. Rhythm; at the other end of the spectrum, Floating Points tries flickering 2-step and Mike Slott plays with dazzling double-time syncopations over hazy dub. Most of the time, you forget you're listening to a remix album at all—a rarity for the format.
