This might be billed as a group effort, but let's be real. Boston Spaceships are Robert Pollard, arguably indie pop's No. 1 songwriter, along with a bunch of dudes from other bands. From the opening riff of "Winston's Atomic Bird" to the notes that close out "Go for the Exit," Pollard dominates this set through and through. More importantly, however, is how rejuvenated he sounds. Dispensing with the proggy shenanigans of recent efforts, he's back to crafting simple but inventive pop music.
