Maybe it's the accents, but there is something about Boy Kill Boy that sounds highly reminiscent of Louder than Bombs-era Smiths. Perhaps it's that the song "Suzie" has a chorus Morrissey probably wrote by accident one day and forgot about. Lucky for us, Boy Kill Boy channeled it and here we are dancing to alterna rock again and everybody's happy being sad. As for the rest of Civilian, Boy Kill Boy kick out disco grooves gilded with edgy 120 Minutes guitars. It's 1987 again.
