After his second album, Boys Noize worked with Kelis, Gonzalez and even the Scissor Sisters, but with his third LP he's right back to the ominous, throbbing electro-techno that has always defined his sound. Like Justice, he excels at a fusion of buzzing sawtooth synths, rock drums and squelchy funk, and vocoders and computer voices give it all a sinister, robotic edge. "Missile" sounds like Zapp remixing Front 242; "Ich R U" threads crashing breaks with acid burble, and "Rocky 2" goes full-on heavy metal. It's not all so uptempo: "Circus Full of Clowns" is a gothic take on hip-hop.
