Having returned to radio oblivion after the strip-clubbing "Crazy Bitch" and apology ballad "Sorry" made their 2006 album 15 their biggest ever, these L.A. tattoo-rock lifers aren't about to chance another whiff like 2008's Black Butterfly. This album loads up on interchangeably sleazy mid-tempos; the fastest riffs are saved for album's end. The band throws in three lovey-dovey slow ones for the ladies, and "Never Say Never" and "Liberty" concern rebellious couples on the run. Biggest surprise: the slightly ornate "Our World," which almost qualifies as a protest song.
