The hip-hop world changed exponentially between Cam's 2004 classic Purple Haze and this '09 album, but hip-hop's pink panther has remained the same: same cheap jokes, same free association misogyny and same surrealist yay-talk over high-drama production. It's as if arrogance is the primary signifier of masculinity and thug kitsch is the height of hip-hop. "Never Ever" feigns the campy bounce of "Gone," while "Who" weakly approximates the classical rush of "Get 'em Girls."
