When you come into the public eye with a gig as a backup dancer and a soundtrack spot on The Hills, prospects for longevity seem fairly slim, but Carolina Liar leader Chad Wolf delivers a set of of-the-moment anthem rock that includes a handful of unexpectedly catchy singles. The equation of most of them is borrowed from the shady '80s affectations of eyeliner indies like The Killers and sweeping choruses of Brit acts like Keane, though in the tunes where things are a bit simpler -- based on piano block chords and simple melodies -- he finds his strong suit.
