Frame By Frame
Released: Oct 2013
Label: Republic Nashville
Who, oh who, will fill the void left by Taylor Swift's move toward Max Martin-produced Top 40 pop? If Swift's label Big Machine has its way, the answer might be Cassadee Pope, the former punk frontwoman who entered the third season of The Voice and came out singing country. With rock tendencies that position Pope as more likely to open for Lady A than become the fourth Pistol Annie, Frame by Frame is consistent all the way through but peaks with "Everybody Sings," a good-times anthem that itself peaks with a drum-and-vocals breakdown owing equally to Queen and Lil Mama.
