Yusuf Islam has released 13 albums since adopting the Muslim faith and changing his name in 1978. This 2009 album, Roadsinger, features many of the elements of his classic '70s period, when he recorded as Cat Stevens, and it will no doubt appeal to folks who listen to Teaser and the Firecat on a regular basis. With warm acoustic guitars and Islam's gruff but gentle vocals, his sensible lyrical perspective puts the lie to his misrepresented image as a Salman Rushdie-hating, no-fly-list-occupying extremist.
