Celldweller's cybernetic nu-metal gets a reboot on his first solo album since 2008's Soundtrack for the Voices in My Head Vol. 01. Nine Inch Nails and Ministry still clearly rank high on his list of all-time faves, judging by the jackhammer rhythms, jagged guitars and, particularly, Celldweller's vocals, alternately seething and soaring. But those titans are partly shoved aside by Skrillex, whose influence as the new titan of alt-metal shines through in lumbering dubstep rhythms and brain-melting synthesizers.
