This fifth album from Cephalic Carnage veers from the jazz elements that have been more obvious on past records. Instead Denver, Colo.'s heavy metal ultra nerds deliver a rock record that has tons of crazy time signatures jammed up against one another without sounding anything like Sting, or any other jazzbos for that matter. While Cephalic Carnage have never come up with another song as incredibly super-duper awesome as "Hybrid," from Exploiting Dysfunction, it's enough to just listen to them and marvel at their out-of-hand capabilities. These dudes play really fast.
