IV by Chatham County Line
Released: Mar 2008
Label: Yep Roc Records
Chatham County Line's Dave Wilson is the only dude out there who can sound like a cross between Morrissey, Jerry Garcia and Bill Monroe and actually make it work. The same goes for his band. On IV, C.C.L. somehow bring together both traditional and progressive bluegrass, Wilco-inspired indie, and hippie country, and it sounds perfect. Usually young Americana bands have to answer questions about authenticity, but that's just silly when dealing with Chatham County Line. Their mongrel music is purely American.
