Cheka came up in Brooklyn, but you wouldn't necessarily know it from his solo debut, which approaches reggaeton from so many directions you won't know which way is up. He can throw down as hard as any of his inspirations (and production clients, like Daddy Yankee), but his skill as a producer gives him a wider palette to work with: he makes convincing -- and effortless -- segues from reggaeton-infused pop to the grimiest street rhymes. One of the most dynamic and listenable reggaeton releases of 2007.
