Label: Artery/Razor & Tie
Though Chelsea Grin are often lumped in with the many metalcore bands blitzing the hard-rock charts over the past few years, the Salt Lake City-based outfit packs significantly more punch than most of their emo-inspired peers. As their third full-length Ashes To Ashes demonstrates, Chelsea Grin cut their metalcore with death metal and even a little black metal; this means few clean vocals and lots of jagged breakdowns and gnarly start/stop riff madness. "Morte ætérna" is particularly snarling, as are "Sellout" (the guitars are really clangy and screechy on this one) and the spastic "Undying."
