On A Misty Night
by Chet Baker
Released: Aug 1965
With a lot to prove to the jazz community, Baker cut five albums' worth of material for Prestige Records in three days (you read that right -- five records in three days, like Miles Davis' final LPs for the label). Those five albums were condensed onto three CDs, including this one. This is superior hard bop, with Baker playing the flugelhorn and leading his band through lesser-known Tad Dameron and Richard Carpenter numbers. The other CDs in the series are Lonely Star and Stairway to the Stars.
