Chick's back with a new electric (and acoustic) band! It's a good one. Some tunes sound placid at first, but heated work from drummer Marcus Gilmore helps most catch fire. Whether Corea plays piano ("Planet Chia," "Royalty," "Pledge for Peace," "Hot House") or synths (everything else), he sounds energized by Tim Garland on woodwinds and Charles Altura on guitar. Ravi Coltrane also guests on "Pledge for Peace." The space-theological titles ("Galaxy 32 Star 4") can be ignored if you wish (but beware: "Outside of Space" has lyrics). All told, a fan of any Corea era should find something to dig.
