Two veterans of Germany's nu-jazz scene, Christian Prommer (Fauna Flash, Truby Trio) and Alex Barck (Jazzanova) come together for a diverse album of low-key grooves and experimental pop. There's a hint of avant-garde songwriters like Arthur Russell in the echoing "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde," which samples the likeminded French musician Henri Texier; "Everything" and "Soweto Symphony" are closer to the Gilles Peterson-approved nu-jazz of their earlier work, but spruced up with richer sonics; elsewhere they interpret slow-motion disco and supple Detroit techno as meditative tone poems.
