The Best Of 1963-78
Cilla Black
Released:
Dec 2008
Label:
EMI Records
Cilla Black never achieved much success in the States, but ever since the British Invasion exploded in the mid-1960s, she has been a successful pop singer, actor, TV personality and all-around celebrity in her native England. This three-disc set meticulously charts her first 15 years of recording (1963-78). Boasting a voice short on subtlety but packed with punch, she charted a slew of wildly dramatic ballads, including "You're My World," "Alfie," "Anyone Who Had a Heart" and the obscenely fatalistic "Love's Just a Broken Heart." Warning: Best to avoid these tunes just after a breakup!
