A polished studio outfit fronted by the blue-eyed soul crooner Dennis Yost, Classics IV didn't survive the 1960s, but they did set the stage for '70s pop-rock. "Spooky" and "Stormy" deserve their heavy oldies and classic rock radio rotation; the equally moody but schmaltzy "Traces" was the group's biggest hit. Courtship of Eddie's Father-era A.M. pop at its best.
