Originally started by '70s cult icon Colonel Bruce Hampton (who departed after their debut album), this eclectic Jam Rock outfit places a premium on instrumental prowess. The Aquarium Rescue Unit mix Allman Brothers-style Southern Rock with almost every other indigenous form of American music, from Free Jazz to Tin Pan Alley pop.
