A Party With Betty Comden & Adolph Green (Single)

May 1977

Biography

Betty Comden and Adolph (you don't hear that name too often anymore) Green are giants in the entertainment field. They started out as cutting edge comics who went on to become award winning writers of the stage and screen. They even wrote the screenplay to Hollywood's greatest musical, Singing in the Rain, while pursuing parallel acting careers. As lyricists they have worked with such distinct talents as Leonard Bernstein, Jule Styne and Andre Previn. They penned such standards as "Just in Time" and "The Party's Over" while working on the trend setting musicals On the Town and Bells are Ringing. Their work is marked by a light, but biting, satiric touch, and they focus on common working shlubs instead of Cole Porter-esque sophisticates. Betty Comden bears quite a resemblance to Greta Garbo, and played the famous recluse in Garbo Talks.
