Head-spinning, headphone-busting, full-steam ahead -- yes, Blue Cathedral is music for your head. But be careful because Comets on Fire threaten to convulse your body, too. Problem is most physical forms weren't made to withstand the swirling onslaught brought by these Santa Cruz psychedelic alchemists. Hints of the music's origins come in narco-boogie bass lines and carpet-bombing drums, but the guitars are mostly deconstructed into oblivion and the stormy electronic atmospherics gush with mad abstraction. Still, there are songs here, buried in blood and beauty and feedback. This is truly visionary metal.
