One day Kaz Gamble (aka DJ Kazmir), friend-of-Luscious Jackson (FOLJ) and former member of wiseacre hip-hop crew Bad Ronald, was hanging out at a recording studio with former LJ singer and bassist Jill Cunniff, when before you can say "four on the floor," the two began laying down some disco tracks like nobody's business. It was all in good fun until Sisely Treasure, a fan of Gamble's band Si*Se, tracked him down on AOL, of all places. They struck up a friendship and decided to make a go of Gamble and Cunniff's neo-disco dabblings. Cunniff stayed on as "groove godmother," providing backing vocals and some production, while Gamble laid down the beats and Treasure sang the songs that made the whole world sing, at least for a few minutes. The band "broke up," but Gamble and Treasure continue to perform occasionally as the band boygirL. Gamble has also worked as a producer for the likes of Prince Paul, Baha Men and Joss Stone.
