Biography

Produced by NWA's MC Ren, the Capital Punishment Organization released their only album To Hell and Black in 1990. Fronted by lead emcee Lil' Nation, the group was less "hardcore" than their Compton comrades, but continued in the tradition of funky tracks and swift lyrical beatdowns. Their sound is unmistakably late 1980s/early '90s West Coast style, and is comparable to the D.O.C.'s No One Can Do It Better(sans Dre's production). While C.P.O. never returned for a sophomore record, their music remains a dope audio time capsule, and their videos are hilarious.
