CCR's last album, minus big brother Tom Fogerty and with songs both written and sung by Doug Clifford and Stu Cook, Mardi Gras went gold on the strength of two more John classics, "Someday Never Comes" and "Sweet Hitch-Hiker." How many John Fogerty-penned classics does that make? Ten zillion? Just about. While Fogerty's talent drove them, Clifford proves himself to be no slouch with "Tearin' Up the Country," and regardless of who's singing, that "it-can-only-be-CCR" rhythm section is underneath and Fogerty's guitar is wreaking havoc all over the place.
