Shaken by a Low Sound is an interesting title for Crooked Still's second album. Just what is this low sound that shakes things? We'll let you in on the secret -- it's a cello and a double bass. This album has more awesome bottom than J-Lo's Levi's. Just give "Can't You Hear Me Callin'" a listen and you will be surprised at how much a Bill Monroe song can rattle your sternum. Another secret weapon is banjo deity Greg Liszt's claw-hammer picking style (as previously heard and heralded on Bruce Springsteen's Seeger Sessions tour). Aoife O'Donovan's angelic vocals will woo you.
