Shortly before the Rolling Stones killed the 1960s at the Altamont Speedway, three filthy hessians from London were doing their best to lay the hippie dream to rest. "Love Is All Around Me" should have been a huge hit upon its release, but as they say in the music biz, it's who you know. And these guys didn't know anyone in 1969 who was ready to risk it all for their fuzzed-out, glammed-up van rock that dared to churn proto-punk from the discarded remnants of Blue Cheer's drugs and Gary Glitter's trousers. If there was ever an album to accompany bad hygiene and good times, this is it.
