They've shared the stage with many of the biggies: Aterciopelados, Gustavo Cerati, Molotov, Tego Calderon. But Cuarto Poder deserve their own platform. The Venezuelan quintet has raised the bar for hip-hop in its country, scoring a hit with "Arenita Playita" and providing an alternative to the bling-and-babes-focused street rap. ("Arenita Playita" also appeared on the soundtrack for the Mun2 show The Chicas Project. Emcees Apache, Cotur, Psycho, Rojo and Mike form an unparalleled unit, achieving the kind of seamless tag-team flow that few groups north or south of the equator can manage. Their 2003 debut, La Real Academia de Flow, put them on Venezuelan stages; their 2007 follow-up may break them everywhere else.
