Sweet Charity, originally released in 1969, marked the directorial debut of Bob Fosse, who also directed and choreographed the 1966 stage musical. Chances are, you know darn near every song (or at least feel like you do). Who can't sing the bawdy classic "Big Spender" or "There's Gotta Be Something Better Than This"? Soaking up '60s rock, instrumentals like "The Pompeii Club" are wonderfully cheesy garage-pop. Of course, the star of the show is young Shirley MacLaine, who even sounds like a doll.
