Before Dan Fogelberg fell in with L.A.'s denim hipsters (Eagles, Ronstadt, Browne, etc.), he actually didn't go for much country-rock. Despite the sparkling pedal steel on "More Than Ever," the singer-songwriter's debut, 1972's Home Free, sounds more like Supertramp and Shawn Phillips -- the product of an ambitious tunesmith with a knack for epic productions and pop classical flourishes.
