A member of the Nueva Cancion political movement of the '60s and '70s, Daniel Viglietti sings as Uruguay's social conscience -- an unglamorous gig that could get pretty tiring. But Viglietti's secret weapon on this classic album is three-pronged: his great poems (transformed into songs), his sensitive voice and a nice way with a melody. There's a whiff of A Mighty Wind about the proceedings, but that's part of the charm.
