A Blaze In The Northern Sky

A Blaze In The Northern Sky by Darkthrone
Released: Jan 1991
Label: Peaceville
Between their inhuman politics, the crimes of their black metal scene pals and, let's face it, absurd fashion sense, it should probably be illegal to listen to Darkthrone. But it's all just a joke right? It's not like that really is Satan singing, it just sounds that way. Also, how evil is a band that lifts the break from "Presence of the Lord" for the title cut here? Regardless of moral questions posed, Blaze marked Darkthrone's first foray into black metal, which may explain the classic rockiness of the riffs. The album stands as a major event in the whole Norwegian takeover.
