Released:
Label: RCA RECORDS LABEL
Break The Spell isn't a complete split from Daughtry's post-grunge formula, but it does feel significantly lighter than previous full-lengths. Another development is the singer's increased reliance on his upper register (less brooding). While "Renegade" and the funkified "Outta My Head" are both hard bruisers, "Spaceship," "Losing My Mind," the Bryan Adams-flavored "Louder Than Ever" and several other tracks find him tackling hook-stained, feel-good power anthems. Chris Daughtry is, after all, a child of American Idol; pop is in his DNA.
