Released: Jan 1954
Label: Legacy/Columbia
Tracks from the superior Columbia LPs Brubeck Time and Red, Hot, and Cool get compiled onto one CD. Brubeck was always a much better songwriter and soloist than he got credit for (the price of crossover stardom), though it's Paul Desmond's painfully romantic ballad "Audrey" (a hopeless ode to Miss Hepburn) which opens the set and steals the show.
