Smooth sax star Dave Koz pulls together a disparate array of talents to make his first release on the Concord label standout: Shelia E, Jonathan Butler, Jeff Lorber, Brian Culbertson, Ray Parker, Jr. and EZ listening trumpet legend Herb Alpert. "Think Big" is a shuffling, lightly funky number that combines Koz with modern blues master Keb'Mo, the young post-bop trumpet player Christian Scott and bassist Marcus Miller. Koz and company manage to be slick and commercial without pandering to their audience.
