Dave Pike

While essentially a straight-ahead Bop vibraphonist, Pike often dabbled in Latin, Jazz-Funk, and Fusion settings fashionable in the late-'60s/early-'70s. In many ways period pieces, these records have been embraced by the Acid Jazz/"rare groove" scene, with the result that some of the more unfettered Hard Bop material has resurfaced as well.
