David Kristian

David Kristian is on the far avant-garde of Drum 'n' Bass tradition. He is much too precocious to merely exaggerate the low end and make the beats ultra-frenetic; he twists the instrumentation from jazz-cool melodies to time-shifting peculiarities. He creates a delicate tension between surreal sound effects and glyphic beat patterns. Breaks drift through the familiar haunts of anxiety prone rhythms that jump and dodge the 4/4, but settle in chill landscapes far from the dated Apache and Amen breaks that have come to epitomize the mainstreaming of Jungle. Kristian continuously shuffles the beats and instrumentation without pause, causing a continuous evolution in sound.
