The Wild Angels And Other Themes
Davie Allan & the Arrows
Released:
Mar 1966
Label:
Curb
Though not as revered as Dick Dale and Link Wray, David Allan is one of instrumental rock's great guitarists. In the mid- to late '60s the Arrows became the undisputed kings of the biker flick: young, angry hellions pummeling innocent Americans to the sounds of primitive garage and surfy fuzz. On the six-and-a-half minute throwdown "Cycle-delic," Allan sounds more like Thurston Moore than the Ventures. The dude basically unleashes a wall of feedback for, like, the entire song. Totally demented!
