About Deadstring Brothers

Kurt Marschke and Peter Ballard began playing together in Detroit in 2001, eventually putting together a full band roster and taking up the Deadstring Brothers name two years later. The sound was Americana in its purest form, drawing on traditions from the Flying Burrito Brothers, the Band and Exile-era Stones. Their self-titled debut came in 2004, followed by wide touring and a deal with Bloodshot for their proper follow-up, Silver Mountain, which arrived in 2007.
