Fluorescent Grey is a short but sweet trip into the psych-tinged, hypnotic universe of Deerhunter. The four songs were recorded during the mixing process of 2007's Cryptograms, yet the dissonance of that LP gives way to a more focused shoegazer sound here. Morbidly dreamy backdrops and wistful vocals are tie-dyed in coats of tweaks, twinkles and hazy guitars that get the heart pumping. The pressure builds from the eponymous opening track and reaches its boiling point in the riotous rocky layers of the closing song "Wash Off."
