Del Reeves

North Carolina singer Del Reeves exemplified a no-frills combination of Honky-Tonk and the '60s Nashville Sound. Born in 1934, Reeves found his way to the music business early on via a stint as teenaged disc jockey. After moving to California and experiencing success as a songwriter for other artists, he scored in 1961 with his own hit, "Be Quiet Mind." He continued to enjoy chart hits on through the early '80s, including nearly a dozen that hit the Top-10.
